State Senator Gretchen Whitmer
State Senator Gretchen Whitmer filed paperwork earlier today to seek the Democratic Nomination for attorney general in 2010. She becomes the first Democrat to openly say she wants the Democratic nomination that will be chosen at the state Democratic Convention next year. Whitmer has served in both the state House and the Senate.

“In the weeks and months ahead, I’m going to continue to have serious conversations with police, prosecutors and families about how to better protect and serve the public through the office of attorney general,” Whitmer stated in a press release.
