Please be reminded that the results of this poll DO NOT constitute an endorsement from the Bay County Democratic Party it is also not meant to be an accurate representation of our party's view on the candidates. The Michigan Democratic Party will host a Gubernatorial Candidate Forum on Sunday, April 18th at the Cobo Center in Detroit. This is just one day after the Endorsement Convention and Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. All three Democratic candidates will participate. The forum will be moderated by Party Chairman, Mark Brewer. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to ask questions to the candidates. The forum will run from 8:30a.m. to 10:00a.m. Tickets will cost $20 if purchased before Monday, April 12th and $30 afterward. To purchase tickets or get more information, please click here. ![]() Andy Dillon Speaker of the House Andy Dillon today announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Governor. "My vision for Michigan's future is based on creating good jobs in growing sectors of the economy and in making sure the people of Michigan are prepared for those jobs," said Dillon. Dillon's announcement kick-off in Redford was the first of several stops around the state, including Lansing Community College - West Campus in Lansing and Hangar42 Studios in Grand Rapids. The two-day tour will culminate with a special event at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit. Andy Dillon is currently serving his third term in the Michigan House of Representatives and his second term as Speaker of the House. Other Democratic candidates include state Rep. Alma Wheeler-Smith, former Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee and current Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. Bernero has two other stops scheduled today in Grand Rapids and Lansing. It’s time for a new vision. We’re done playing games, we’re fighting back,” Bernero said. Bernero has been exploring the possibility of a run for more than a month and chose Detroit Chassis for the location of his announcement. The only other official Democratic candidate is state Rep. Alma Wheeler-Smith. Other potential Democratic candidates include House Speaker Andy Dillon, MSU Trustee George Perles, former Flint Mayor Don Williamson, Detroit businesswoman Denise Ilitch, former state Treasurer Bob Bowman and former Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee. ![]() House Speaker Andy Dillon House Speaker Andy Dillon announced this morning that he is forming an exploratory committee for a possible run for governor. A video was posted on his new website, in which he stated, "I've seen what stands in the way of economic growth, and I know we can change it. But it won't happen with the same old thinking." Dillon said he would spend the coming weeks "talking to people across our state" and soliciting their concerns and ideas for the future.."
